Fight Lagoon Pollution in St. Maarten - Support "Slurpy" the Sewage Pump Out Boat

Donate

Boat-based sewage is a threat to St. Maarten's Simpsons Bay Lagoon because it causes bad odors, transmits diseases, creates mats of algae, and reduces oxygen in the water, which can kill fish and other sea creatures. But this problem is totally preventable! Boaters in the Lagoon want this service, too, otherwise they have to wait for the bridge to open to go out to sea or just dump it where they are (yuck).

Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) is proud to operate Slurpy, the only pump-out option available to boaters struggling with that full sewage tank. Our boat pumps that waste from the anchored boat and takes it to a safe and secure land-based tank for a small fee. This waste is then taken by a septic truck to a wastewater treatment facility to get cleaned up. As a non-profit, EPIC needs funding to get Slurpy new batteries, a paint job and other repairs, so she can be back on the water by November 2020, after hurricane season.

Your help is vital to this pollution prevention solution. You can Help Save the Lagoon!
